Butts, Oliver remembered by KETR's Chitwood

In Commerce, people in the university community knew Aubree Butts and Devin Oliver as friends and classmates. KETR listeners across Northeast Texas knew the two young women as important parts of the backcourt of the Lions basketball team.

KETR play-by-play announcer Charlie Chitwood was one of many around the region who was shocked and saddened by the stunning news of the Tuesday night car accident in Paris that ended the students’ lives.

Mark Haslett served as KETR's News Director from February 2013 to June 2025. During his tenure the station's news operation enjoyed an increase in listener engagement and audience metrics, as well recognition in the Texas AP Broadcasters awards and a National Edward R. Murrow award.
