'Roxton Saturday Night' celebrating 10-year anniversary

Roxton resident Sandra Johnson describes a little about the annual "Roxton Saturday Night" festival, which is set to entertain Northeast Texans for a tenth year this weekend. This year's headline musical artist is Stacy Musgrove, who is scheduled to take the stage in downtown Roxton at 7 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 20.

Press release from Roxton Saturday Night organizers:

Plans are being finalized for the biggest and best yet Roxton Saturday NIght. “Fabulous Fifties” is this year’s theme. The event will actually begin on Friday night with Roxton’s own Sonny Jackson performing at Big A’s. Get up early on Saturday and enjoy a pancake breakfast with all the trimmings, sponsored by Commercial Bank of Texas and the City of Roxton Community Development Committee, in the Roxton Community Center from 7-10 a.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from any City of Roxton Community Development member. Tickets will also be available at the door. Proceeds from the breakfast will go toward community improvements.
The parade rolls through town at 10:00. Everyone is invited to participate in the parade. Vendors, food and merchandise, will line the streets from parade time until 5 p.m. Cash drawings on the hour from 2-6 p.m. Guess the number of buttons in the jar and win $50. You have to be present to win all drawings or the guessing game. Giant slide and bounce house for the children. Sit in available chairs and watch Ronnie Duke, shown below, perform from 1-5 p.m. in front of the old post office building. Move on down to the Roxton Grocery at 5:30 p.m. for a delightful dancing event. The final drawing of the afternoon will be held in front of the Roxton Grocery at 6:00 p.m. Move back to the “nerve center” at 6:30 p.m. and get comfortable for the evening entertainment provided by Stacy Musgrove, who was so popular last year. Hang around until the very end as you could be the lucky winner of the final drawing of $250. Questions: call 903-346-2939 or 903-346-3353. Anyone interested in setting up as a vendor should call 903-491-7078.
