"Brave" hardly begins to describe the guts it takes to perpetuate music that's outside the normal, but that's precisely what Denton's Brave Combo has been doing for more than 35 years.

Founding member Carl Finch discovered polka in the 1970's and realized he could put his own's groups spin on the lesser appreciated genre. Brave Combo has since won a Grammy Award, been featured on televisons' The Simpsons, and proudly claim themselves "America's Premiere dance band." The uniquely Texan group brings their show to the Paris Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 1, and Finch checked in with Notably Texan the day prior.

Notably Texan is heard weekdays from Noon-3pm on KETR.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Matt moved to the Sulphur Springs area in 1990 and settled in Commerce shortly thereafter. Having dreamed of working in radio since childhood, he began working at KETR while taking Radio-Television courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1993. Matt has transitioned from a part-time worker and pupil of KETR, to the station’s Chief Announcer/Producer and supervisor of student broadcasters. A familiar voice of 88-9 KETR, Matt has hosted such shows as The Late Nite Lion, and can currently be heard as host of Notably Texan.
