Alleged Drug Plane Pilot Arrested in California

GREENVILLE – The man alleged to have abandoned a plane at the Caddo Mills airport last week after dropping bundles of marijuana in the area has been arrested.

Darin Fayne was taken into custody near his home in California on Wednesday.

Although Fayne had been the subject of a federal investigation, Hunt County Undersheriff Joe Knight says he is expected to be returned to Hunt County to face state charges.

Five duffle bags believed connected to a plane abandoned on July 19 turned up a total of 185 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value between $740,000 and $1.5 million.

According to Knight, authorities are preparing to charge Fayne with possession of marijuana and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant.
