Puddin' Hill is back

Mary of Puddin Hill is now expected to be open in time for the holidays.  The iconic Greenville business will have both its catalog ordering, and its retail store, in operation early next month, according to owner Ken Bain.
A deal to sell the business to an Addison-based company apparently fell through during the past week, and Bain will remain as the owner after receiving financial support.

In related news, City of Greenville officials intend to meet next month to consider a zoning change for a Collin Street Bakery which could be situated near Interstate 30 and Moulton Street.

Legends Foods Corporation of Addison had announced plans to purchase Puddin’ Hill’s 43,000 square foot factory, and CEO Lawrence Briggs said production would start in early October.  But the company, now known as Republic of Texas Food Company, issued a press release last week indicating it was launching its online store and that negotiations to acquire Puddin’ Hill had been terminated.  Meanwhile, the Greenville Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council are scheduled to meet in a special session November 8thto conduct a public hearing and then consider a requested change in zoning from Tyler based Land Bridge Commercial Properties representing Collin Street Bakery and seeking a change in zoning from commercial district to planned development for an almost 1.5 acre tract on the north side of I-30 and east side of Highway 69 and Moulton Street.
