Commissioners, Council approval to pave way for jobs

GREENVILLE - Local officials will decide Tuesday whether to grant a tax abatement for a Greenville company planning a major expansion.

Weatherford Artificial Lift Systems is looking to add 105 jobs at an average salary of $29,000. In addition to the improvements, the company is said to be planning to add $26 million in business personal property.

Both Hunt County Commissioners and Greenville City Council members will take up the item. The council will first consider designating the site as a tax reinvestment zone before approving the abatement, as required.
