GREENVILLE - A Hunt County man accused of killing his ex-wife is in court Tuesday as part of a status review hearing.

Micah Crofford Brown has pleaded not guilty to the killing of Stella Michelle Ray in July 2011. Ray, an English teacher at  Caddo Mills High School, had just completed her Ph.D. in Literature at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

The shooting reportedly took place in front of the former couple’s two children. The shooting was allegedly instigated from a custody argument.

Prosecutors earlier this year announced they would seek death by lethal injection should Brown be convicted in the case. He remains jailed on $1.5 million bond.
