Bonham ISD’s Sonny Cruse stepping down

North Texas E-News

BONHAM - After five years in Bonham, district superintendent Sonny Cruse says he’s accepted a position at another school district.

“The purpose of this communication is inform the community that I have accepted the deputy superintendent position with Huntsville ISD,” Cruse said in a statement issued Friday morning.

“I am so very grateful to the Board of Trustees, the faculty and staff, parents, community members and the wonderful students of Bonham ISD for allowing me to serve as the superintendent of schools for the past five years. The time spent working alongside professionals such as yourself has greatly enriched my life and will serve me well as I move on to another opportunity in my professional life.”

Cruse will remain with BISD through July.

As Bonham ISD Trustees begin their search for his replacement, the Bonham City Council may also be seeking a new city manager. Two weeks ago, they accepted the resignation of Corby Alexander, who is leaving for the same position in La Porte, Texas.
