Tropical Storm Debby: Florida Governor declares state of emergency

National Weather Service

Tropical Storm Debby is wreaking havoc in Florida, with the end far in the distance.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has declared a statewide emergency due to Tropical Storm Debby.

As the tropical storm stalled in the Gulf of Mexico, periods of heavy rainfall have begun to inundate the panhandle of Florida. 5 inches per hour of rainfall is expected with parts of this storm.

But rain isn't the only threat. High winds and tornadoes are possible as well. One death has already occurred due to a tornado, and Florida officials are searching for a man who disappeared in the rough surf.

Thankfully, North Texas will not be affected by Tropical Storm Debby, it's just sun and HEAT from here on through the weekend!
