Four years ago, a triple murder in Rains County later revealed to be a plot by a teenage girl and her boyfriend to kill her parents rocked a small East Texas community.

The story behind the horrific murders premieres Wednesday night on ABC's docudrama, Final Witness.

On the morning of March 1, 2008, Terry Caffey, his wife and two sons were shot while sleeping in their home, which was then set on fire. Terry was the lone survivor, despite being shot five times.

His daughter, Erin Caffey, and Charles Wilkinson are currently serving life sentences in state prison. Their friends and accomplices are also in prison.  The murders were the plan of Caffey's then 16-year old daughter and her boyfriend so they could be together.

Terry Caffey offered these comments during a September 2010 interview with KLTV-TV:

"I went through so many emotions. Anger was one of them. I was just angry at Erin and angry at those who came in and murdered my family; I was even angry at God," he said.

Caffey has written a book called Terror by Night, published in 2009, which tells the story of how he found peace after the murders of his wife Penny, 13-year-old son Matthew, and 8-year-old son Tyler, and how he was able to forgive those who committed the crime.

In Final WitnessChae Balistreri plays the role of Erin Caffey's boyfriend, Charles Wilkinson.

"There were many nights that I sat in the hotel room and literally cried because I had to imagine what was it like to kill two little boys, to kill a mother, to shoot a father, to steal from them, to burn down a house and to leave. How do you do that? It really ate me alive," Balistreri said.

Final Witness airs Wednesday on ABC at 10:00 p.m. Eastern/9:00 p.m. Central.
