Technology Services Advance in Gee Library

COMMERCE - An article in the upcoming issue of Computers in Libraries features A&M-Commerce Gee Library staff Sean Anderson and Sue Weatherbee.

In the article “Growing a Technology Equipment Service in an Academic Library” they announce and describe a technology service they have developed for the campus community. The magazine provides coverage of news and issues in the rapidly evolving field of library information technology.

Anderson is the technology librarian/library webmaster at A&M–Commerce and focuses on incorporating technology in a variety of forms such as hardware, software and online resources into the library’s services.

Weatherbee is access services manager at A&M–Commerce and oversees the customer service area, stack maintenance, interlibrary loan, media services, and staffing of the library computer lab.

“After beginning with check-out of laptops, we soon expanded our technology equipment service by adding 45 iPads for 3-day checkout. Other devices that we circulate to faculty, staff and students are Flip Video cameras, mini-tripods, digital cameras, digital voice recorders, external hard drives, portable tabletop projection screens, projectors, and large tripods,” Weatherbee said. “In just a few semesters, our technology equipment service had become very popular with our faculty and students.”
