FANNIN COUNTY - State Troopers say Wednesday's wreck occurred just before noon in Fannin County. Killed was 21-year-old Elizabeth Campbell, whose car was struck by another motorist.
A dispatcher with the DPS Office in Sherman tells us, "Vehicle number 1 was westbound on Highway 82. Vehicle 2 was eastbound on Highway 82. Vehicle 1 crossed the center of the roadway and struck vehicle number 2 on the improved shoulder."
The report by Trooper Verner notes that 58-year-old Gary Russell of Denison is hospitalized in serious condition with cuts and broken bones. Campbell was transported to Texoma Medical Center in Denison where she was pronounced dead.
It's been a dangerous last few days along area roadways.
A Royse City man was killed when he wrecked his ATV early Sunday morning. Two days later, three men helped pull the victim of a rollover crash in Delta County from his burning vehicle. On Wednesday afternoon, Interstate 30 motorists were stalled for as many as two and a half hours as crews worked to clear an area near Royse City where an 18-wheeler caught fire.
