SULPHUR SPRINGS - If approved Tuesday night, the two items go before voters in November.

Last month, the city confirmed they had received roughly 1,300 signatures, more than 100 needed. The propositions include the sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only and sale of mixed beverages in restaurants by food and beverage certificate holders only.

According to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Cumby is currently the only wet city in Hopkins County, while unincorporated parts of the county are considered partially wet.

Tuesday night’s meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Over the last several years, nearly a dozen local municipalities have conducted similar elections, most passing. Some cities tried a couple of times before receiving approval.
