Funeral set for Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann

COLLEGE STATION - The funeral service is Saturday for 41-year-old Brian Bachmann, the Brazos County constable killed this week while attempting to serve an eviction notice in College Station.

The College Station Police Department has announced viewing will take place Friday evening at Christ United Methodist Church, with Bachmann’s funeral scheduled for 2 p.m. the following day at Reed Arena.

Both remembrances are open to the public. Reed Arena has a total capacity of 12,500.

On Monday, Bachmann was shot and killed by Thomas Caffall III, who also struck and killed Chris Northcliff, a bystander checking some property.

College Station Police Chief Jeff Capps told reporters Tuesday, "We live in a community where our law enforcement agencies - we work hand in hand with each other. And Constable Bachmann, we worked really well with him. He had the highest integrity, and his loss will be felt deeply within the community.”

During the press briefing, Chief Capps mentioned that 51-year-old Barbara Holdsworth, the female bystander also wounded in the shooting, was in stable condition.

Three officers were injured.  Two were released from care Monday. The Associated Press reported Wednesday morning that Officer Justin Oehlke had been discharged after receiving treatment at College Station Medical Center for gun shrapnel.
