Early Voting in Lone Oak ends Tuesday

Facebook

LONE OAK - This Saturday’s election in Lone Oak will determine the school district’s proposed 13 cent property tax increase for citizens.

If approved, the rate would increase to $1.49 per $100 valuation.

District officials have stated funding levels per student are currently at 2006 levels. They’ve also reduced staff by 25 people over the past two years and cut campus supply budgets by roughly 30 percent. Another 13 cents to the property tax rate would restore an estimated $600,000 to the district budget.

The average property tax bill would increase about $13 a month.
