GREENVILLE - A group of seven local residents is expected to be charged with the task of coming up with recommendations for improving the way Greenville operates.

The Greenville City Council is scheduled to consider the appointment of a Citizens Charter Review Committee as part of Tuesday’s regular session.

The City of Greenville Charter is the document which contains the rules and regulations governing how the Council, the city administration and related agencies do business.

State law allows the charter to be amended every two years and to also reflect changes in state law if needed.

The last Charter review resulted in an election in May 2010 during which Greenville’s registered voters passed all 13 proposed amendments on the ballot.

The committee will be made up of one member from each Council district, as well as an at-large representative, who shall serve as Chairman.

The committee will be meet at least monthly.
