Is Winter Leaving Early?

Daniel Starks
/
KETR

It's the end of January. Temperatures are supposed to be in the mid 40s to 50s, so why are we seeing temperatures in the mid 70s?

The National Weather Service stated late last year that this winter was supposed to be a warmer and wetter winter than usual, which could be the explanation for this unseasonably warm weather. The longterm forecast for the region is vague as to whether or not we will get a significant cool down before the season makes it way out of sight.

A break in the warmth is expected to move in Thursday night and early Friday morning, which should bring the temperatures down to the low 50s for the weekend.

Sun is expected all week long with a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms during the late hours of Thursday and early Friday morning.
