Town Hall meeting on toll road scheduled

illinois.edu

A town hall meeting is scheduled this weekend to discuss the toll road which is proposed to cross Hunt County.

Hunt County Precinct 2 Commissioner Jay Atkins, who is opposed to the project, is hosting the event starting at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Caddo Mills Office/Barn on FM 36, just south of State Highway 66.

Atkins cast the dissenting vote Tuesday, as the Commissioners Court voted 3-1 to approve a non-binding resolution of support for the potential toll road which is proposed to be built between Greenville and Lavon.

The proposal from the Texas Turnpike Corporation also includes a plan to build a new, non-toll road from west to east across North Greenville and connecting with Interstate 30.
