Greenville weapons-theft suspect eludes police, remains on run

Greenville PD

Police in Greenville spent much of the day and evening Thursday at an apparent standoff on Rabb Drive, only to find the house empty.

A chase for two people suspected in a Thursday morning crime in Van Zandt County turned into a long evening for Greenville police and residents in the vicinity of Rabb Drive, according to a Herald-Banner report.

Around 9:30 a.m., police arrived at a house in the 2300 block of Rabb in search of two suspects - possibly armed - wanted in connection with a reported theft of weapons from an unspecified location in Van Zandt County Thursday morning.

One of the suspects fled and was caught and arrested late this morning. Officers believed that other remained inside the house. Hunt County Sheriff's deputies arrived to support Greenville police as the situation slowed to an apparent standoff that lasted well past sundown Thursday evening.

Law enforcement entered the house around 8:30 p.m., only to find the house empty.

More details will be posted as they become available.
