NPR

Voters in the northwestern Rains County community of Point will elect three councilpersons this November. The deadline for candidates to file is Aug. 26.

The three seats that will be contested are Place 1, currently held by Robert Ainsworth; Place 3, currently held by Regeanna Walker; and Place 5, currently held by Ted Romine.

City of Point staff said that Walker has filed for a place on the ballot. Romine has not filed, but is expected to, city staff said. Ainsworth is not expected to file for a place on the ballot, city staff said.

Candidate packets are available at Point City Hall during regular business hours.

The first day of early voting is by personal appearance on Monday, Oct. 21. All voting will take place at the courthouse annex. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5.

The last day to register to vote in the November 2013 election is Monday, Oct. 7. That's also the last day to make a change of address to one's voter registration for the November 2013 election.

Located along U.S. Hwy. 69, Point has a population of about 820.
