Per new legislation all voters must present photo identification. However, the State has invested funds to ensure this will not lessen votes cast.
Since Delta County does not have a Department of Public Safety office that issues identification, Delta County Judge Herb Brookshire has taken the steps to provide temporary voter identification cards at the Courthouse.
These Election Identification Certificates (EIC) will be issued to Texans who do not already have an acceptable form of photo identification necessary to vote.
