Delta County will be receiving $350,000 from Texas Department of Transportation for the ice storm damage experienced last December. Delta County Judge Herb Brookshire said they have been working to get this grant for quite some time, gathering photos and information from the Commissioners.

The Delta County Courthouse will be receiving a new roof as the Commissioners accepted a bid to replace the current one along with insurance money. The County will only be out of pocket $2,500 and the new roof will have a 12 year guarantee. Judge Brookshire said they received several bids with a wide range of quotes.

The Commissioners also agreed to lower the speed limit on County Road 4510 from 30 miles per hour to 20 miles per hour.

The County appointed Tanner Crutcher, Brandon Bonds and Gerri Pickering to the Delta County Child Welfare Board in place of Andrea Slakey and Sherri Johnson, who each resigned. The agenda item about trading salvage for labor by Precinct 3 Commissioner Loyd Vandygriff was tabled until another solution could be research. Commissioner Vandygriff also reported the County debris has been removed from the private resident’s property. Judge Brookshire was pleased the matter was resolved in a timely manner.

Delta County Attorney Jay Garrett presented his monthly report with two cases of assault causes bodily injury and one driving while license invalid submitted by Delta County Sheriff’s office. Two cases of assault causes bodily injury, two JP appeal for speeding, one possession less than two ounces and one stealing or receiving stolen check were filed with clerk. Disposed in County Court were JP appeal, possession of marijuana and stolen check for fines assessed of $3,150 and court costs of $618. The office collected $251.91 for Beach Equipment Company, Inc., $196.43 for Dairy Queen and $163.28 for Delta Supermarket in hot check collection.

The Commissioners accepted the minutes for Sept. 22, Oct. 6, Oct. 27 (two sets), Nov. 10 and 14 with only one correction. The Court accepted the monthly reports for the District and County Clerk. No one was present to speak for public participation.

Commissioners Court will be held again on Monday, Dec. 8 at 9 a.m. on the third floor of the courthouse.
