Police search for murder suspect

A Sulphur Springs police are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting at Pacific Park early Monday morning. A 26-year old Jonathan Young died after being shot multiple times at 2 a.m. in the park, and authorities have yet to name a motive for the crime.

According to Sulphur Springs Police Chief Jay Sanders a warrant had been obtained for the arrest of Tilton Joshua Isaiah Mapps, a 20-year-old black male whose last known address was in Greenville, for murder. Mapps – who is considered armed and dangerous – is 5 foot 10 inches tall, 135 pounds, black hair and some facial hair like a mustache and goatee.

The Texas Ranger is assisting in the investigation into the shooting death, according to Sanders.
