Arrest made, stolen vehicle recovered in Cooper

This stolen white Ford pickup has been returned its owner after it was recovered by the Delta County Sheriff's officer Sergeant Charla Singleton.

A stolen vehicle from Wood County was recovered by Delta County Sergeant Charla Singleton in the Northwest part of Cooper last Thursday, June 11. The vehicle was checked as a possible suspect vehicle involved in a shooting incident in Sulphur Springs which occurred last Thursday morning at Helm Lane Apartments and discovered to be reported stolen.

Reports state a white male showed up at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound. The victim was said to be in stable condition.

“We are still working on the connections,” said Delta County Sheriff Ricky Smith. “We believed the two incidents to be related, but we are still investigating.”

Delta County Sheriff’s office informed that Taliaferro Prince recently of Cooper, Texas was taken into custody for unrelated warrants of felony theft over $1,500.00 from Wood County.  Auto theft charges are additionally pending in Wood County on suspect Prince.

“I am very proud of Sergeant Singleton for her diligent efforts in this arrest,” said Sheriff Ricky Smith. “Sergeant Singleton is an excellent law enforcement officer and her outstanding efforts led to the arrest of a wanted felon and the recovery of a stolen vehicle. Her efforts demonstrate the commitment of all of our Delta County officers in helping to prevent crime and clean up criminal activities in Delta County.”

The white Ford pickup was returned to its owner.
