Atmos Energy to Perform Controlled Release of Natural Gas
Atmos Energy would like citizens in Delta County to be aware crews will oversee a controlled release of natural gas on Tuesday, Aug. 4, beginning at 7 a.m. The work will occur at Atmos Energy’s Enloe measuring station southwest of the Enloe community. The work should be completed by 7 p.m. that evening.
Atmos Energy continues to work on its high pressure natural gas pipeline southwest of Enloe near FM 128 to northeast of the city of Cooper near the intersection of TX Hwy24/Hwy 24 Business by replacing a section of pipe as part of normal, routine maintenance operations. During the installation of the new pipeline, residents in the general area of Enloe and Cooper may hear a moderate noise and/or smell the odor of natural gas during the controlled release.
Atmos Energy will have a compressed natural gas (CNG) tanker truck at the measuring station to provide supplemental natural gas to the City of Cooper while maintenance is completed. Atmos Energy customers in the Enloe community and within the city limits of Cooper should not lose service.
However, some customers in the rural area outside the city limits will be without natural gas service while pipeline maintenance is completed. These customers will be notified directly by Atmos Energy employees.
Atmos Energy customers and residents in this area will be advised of the work being performed, along with city officials, volunteer fire departments, police department, county officials, the sheriff’s office and 911 operators.
Also on Thursday, Aug. 6, beginning at 7 a.m. work will occur just west of the Atmos Energy measuring station on FM 1562 in the city of Celeste. The work should be completed by 7 p.m. that evening. Atmos Energy customers within the city limits should not lose service. The tanker truck will be stationed on 9th St/CR 1149 and will require the closure of one block of 9th Street between FM1562 and Sweeney Street.
However, some customers outside Greenville and Celeste city limits will be without natural gas service while pipeline maintenance is completed. These customers will be notified directly by Atmos Energy employees.
