Local EDC makes progress, new officers

Delta County Economic Development Corporation

The Delta County Economic Development Corporation has been conducting regular business meetings and establishing new officers.

Welton Pickering recently nominated Dustin Hunter for Vice President in which he accepted. Jennifer Dwyer agreed to the Secretary position and Kathy Houchins accepted the Treasurer’s position. DCEDC Chairwoman Diane Stegall would be consulting with Jay Garrett on the appointed positions and term limits.

Chairwoman Stegall informed the board of the approval of the 501c3 status.

A sample proposed logo was presented and approved by the Board. They also decided to coordinate with the Cooper Review on showcasing local businesses.

A “Shop Local” discount card was discussed.  The board members will be contacting businesses to see if they would like to participate.  Mindy Hicks from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department offered an insight on how visitors to Doctors Creek Park add to Delta Co revenue and some ways that we can improve the visitor experience and ways TPWD wants to be more locally involved.

The financial report was given with $2,729.33 in the bank.

The DCEDC opted not to participate in Chiggerfest this year.
