Pecan Fest arrives in Pecan Gap

All the planning has finally came to fruition, in a matter of words. This Saturday, October 8 is the date of the Pecan Fest in Pecan Gap.

The Pecan Fest kicks off with the parade at 10 a.m. down Main Street. There will be fire trucks, cars, tractors, horse and buggies, hay wagons and more in the parade.

There will be plenty of free activities for families to enjoy like bounce house, hay park, stick horse race, sack race, hay toss, egg toss and cakewalk.

The day continues with a BBQ Brisket lunch served at the Community Center. The famous “Curtis Miller” brisket along with Potato Salad, Beans, cold slaw, pickles and a drink for $10.00-kids under 12 will be $7.00.  Homemade sliced pie $1.50.  (Remember this is a yearly fund raiser to help pay the utilities for the Community Center and the Volunteer Fire Department).

The Ladies Club sponsors a Country Store at the Pecan Fest. What is a Pecan Fest without the sales of a Pecan pie or two? The Ladies Club will be selling lots of sweets. Stock up and freeze for Thanksgiving holiday.

New to the event this year will be the “Story Telling.” According to correspondent Nelda Campbell, several prominent folks in Pecan Gap will tell funny happenings from the past that will have you laughing.  To name a few that will tell stories is: John Moss, Morris White, Lois Amundson, and others.  This will take place at 1:30 pm.

The day wraps up at 2 p.m. with a drawing for a big cooler.
