Greenville
Mosquito trucks will be spraying in Greenville tonight. Two mosquitoes infected with the West Nile Virus were gathered in Greenville. One was trapped in the Old Mill area, just west of Major Field. The other was trapped in the Ridgecrest area, just west of Hunt Regional Medical Center. No human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in Northeast Texas.
Paris
Paris police have warned the public about yet another telephone scam in the area. The newest attempt to defraud people by phone involves the caller demanding money from the potential victim. Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley said this scam involves the scammer spoofing a city of Paris number. “In this attempt, a call is received and the caller ID displays ‘City of Paris,’” Hundley told The Paris News. “However, it is not the city calling. The message indicates the person called is delinquent in payment to the city. The recording then prompts the person to provide credit or debit card information.”
