You can save your pennies this weekend.

Friday begins Texas’ annual Sales Tax Holiday. Through Sunday,  shoppers are exempt from paying sales and use taxes on most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks under $100.That’s about $8 saved for every $100 spent. Items sold online, by telephone and mail are eligible for the sales tax exemption, as are layaway items placed on layaway during this weekend.

Items over $100 are still taxed, as are athletic clothing items, golf cleats, and football pads. Tennis shoes, jogging suits and swimsuits, however, all qualify for the tax exemption.
