Three counties in Northeast Texas look to benefit from disaster aid approved by the White House Monday. President Trump yesterday approved an appeal by Gov. Greg Abbott to open relief money to counties affected by last fall’s flooding.
The president opened the chance to aid 33 Texas counties. Among them are Fannin, Franklin, and Hopkins counties. Federal funding will also be available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
No word yet on the amount of aid the counties will receive, but radio station KSST in Sulphur Springs reports that Hopkins County might ask for $500,000 to help repair county roads damaged by flooding in October.
