Law enforcement officers continue to seek a suspect in a shooting that left a Ladonia man dead during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

J.C. Campbell, 48, died after being shot multiple times in the parking lot of the Texoma Housing Authority apartments on Paris Street in Ladonia, police said. The incident happened shortly after midnight, they said.

Ladonia police chief Howard Day told area media that he believes the shooting was a targeted killing. Multiple witnesses described a car driving up to where Campbell and others were gathered, a man getting out of the car and arguing with Campbell, then getting a gun from the car and shooting Campbell.

One witness told Sherman-based KXII-TV that the assailant emptied his gun into Campbell, installed a fresh clip into his gun, and shot another round into Campbell.
