Greenville, Caddo Mills Crashes Kill 2 Over Weekend

Two people died in motor vehicle accidents in Hunt County during the weekend of Aug. 28-29.

Two people died in motor vehicle accidents in Hunt County during the weekend of Aug. 28-29, the Texas Department of Public Safety said. A motorcyclist died Saturday on the west side of Greenville, and the driver of an SUV died Sunday near Caddo Mills.

Officers responded to a call of a crash near Greenville at U.S Hwy. 69 and County Road 1058 at about 8:35 p.m. Saturday, Texas DPS Sgt. Kyle Bradford said.

“Preliminary investigations indicates that a custom built motorcycle was traveling south on U.S. 69 and for a yet to be determined reason the motorcycle made an abrupt stop before making a turn, and was struck from behind by an Infinity SUV,” Bradford said. “The driver of the a Infinity was not injured, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene.”

Sunday’s crash was reported at about 11:57 a.m., along the Interstate 30 service road near FM 36, south of Caddo Mills.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling eastbound on the Interstate 30 service road,” Bradford said. “For a unknown reason the driver exited the service road drove on the shoulder and overturned several times. The driver was pronounced deceased on scene.”

The investigations into both crashes was still ongoing as of Monday morning and no additional information was immediately available.
