May 13 Morning Newscast: Audie Murphy Day celebrations return to Greenville.

The Texan Theater, the Flecther Warren Civic Center, and the Audie Murphy / American Cotton Museum will all host events.

  • Coming up this evening and tomorrow, this year’s Audie Murphy Day celebrations in Greenville. Hunt County native Audie Murphy was the most decorated American combat soldier of World War II and the event honors him and all veterans. Events begin today with a screening of the movie Night Passage, starring Audie Murphy and Jimmy Stewart, at the Texan Theatre, with shows at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. On Saturday, Audie Murphy Day, there’ll be morning events at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center and afternoon events at the Audie Murphy / American Cotton Museum. The featured speaker this year is Collin College historian Mark Welborn. Details available at A-M-A-C museum dot com.
  • Also tomorrow, Greenville Christian School is hosting the Be Brave FunDay fundraiser. The event benefits patients and families dealing with childhood cancer and is being presented in partnership with the Trevor Wade Daniel foundation. Activities include a 3K Family Fun Run, a Homerun Derby, volleyball, food trucks, bounce houses, and much more. It all happens from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Greenville Chrsitian School.   • And in East Tawakoni tomorrow, it’s the Race Across the Bridge 5K Run and Nautical Mile Fun Run. This year, a number of veterans will be participating in memory of fallen soldier Shawn Henry McNabb, for whom the 2-mile bridge has been named.
