Greenville Parks and Recreation Dept. conducting public survey on multipurpose center

friday morning newscast graphic

Greenville has been without such a facility since the old YMCA was closed in 2017.

  • The City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department is seeking public input on the topic of a multi-purpose sports and recreation facility. Greenville has not had such a facility available to the general public since the old YMCA building was closed at the end of 2017, in part due to major damage from a storm earlier that year. No new private or public multipurpose sports and recreation facility has been proposed recently, but Greenville Parks and Recreation is now gathering public opinion about whether such a facility is desired and what such a facility might provide. You do not have to be a Greenville or Hunt County resident to take the survey. You can find a link at the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
  • Despite milder weather this week, the Texas A&M Forest service has rated fire danger as high across most of Northeast Texas today, as the region remains in drought. Yesterday, firefighters contained a grass fire northeast of Farmersville that burned about six acres. Outdoor burning remains illegal in all Northeast Texas counties.
