An intern from the Royse City Republican's office has filed a complaint with the House Committee on General Investigating.

Texas State Rep. Bryan Slaton is facing an ethical complaint from a staff intern. Slaton has hired a Rockwall attorney to address the allegations. The Texas Tribune reports the intern says she met Slaton at his Austin apartment and that she and Slaton drank alcohol. The intern is under 21. A statement from the Law Firm of Patrick Short described the complaint as “outrageous” and “false.” The complaint was filed in the Texas House Committee on General Investigating.

The Dallas Morning News reports Slaton was the only House lawmaker to miss debate on the state budget last week. The Morning News also reports that House general investigating committee chairman Andrew Murr said the committee does not comment on investiagtions. Murr is a Republican from Junction and heads the committee, composed of five lawmakers.

Slaton, a Royse City Republican, is serving his second term representing Hunt, Hopkins, and Van Zandt counties in Texas House District 2. He defeated longtime state representative Dan Flynn in a GOP party primary runoff election in 2020. Slaton, who is married, holds a master of divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
