The district would like to house the daycare at the Houston Education Center on Jack Finney Boulevard.

The Greenville Independent School District is looking to offer daycare services for its staff. The Herald Banner reports the district plans to house a daycare at the Houston Education Center, located at 9315 Jack Finney Blvd., the former location of New Horizons High School.

The daycare would be a public-private partnership between the district and Small Town Dreams of Greenville. The Herald Banner reports a survey of staff conducted by the district indicates a majority of Greenville ISD staff would be interested in the district providing a day care. The Herald Banner reports the district is working on a lease agreement with Small Town Dreams to provide the space at below-market rates. That, accoprding to the district, would allow the child care services to also be offered at below-market rates.

Greenville ISD currently has a teacher turnover rate of a little more than 23 percent. Data released this week by the National Education Administration show teacher annual salaries in Texas are more than $7,700 lower than the national average.
