Texas lawmaker to forgo second term for judge's post

Facebook

AUSTIN - District 3 State Representative Erwin Cain says he will not seek another term in Austin, but rather behind the bench.

Cain has announced his candidacy for 62ndDistrict Court Judge. The court serves Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, and Lamar Counties.

Cain, a resident of Hopkins County, was voted to the Texas House in November 2010. He’ll lose his elected position because of redistricting.

Cain will challenge Will Biard for the 62nd District Judge’s seat. The position is currently held by Scott McDowell who will not seek reelection.
