Authorities respond to accident along Culver St. crosswalk

COMMERCE - One person was injured in a vehicle-pedestrian collision Friday evening along a Commerce crosswalk that’s predominantly used by university students.

Witnesses tell KETR that an individual was running across Culver St. (Loop 178) in front of Whitley Hall when he/she was struck by a newer model gray Toyota Prius.

Commerce emergency personnel had cleared the scene by 6:05 p.m.

The victim was transported by ground to a local hospital. It is unconfirmed whether the individual is a student at A&M-Commerce.

Commerce Police are handling the investigation.

The driver’s side mirror was broken as a result of the accident. The rest of the vehicle did not appear to be  impacted.
