'Between The Sulphurs' documents Delta County

Between The Sulphurs Volume 1: A Pictorial History of Delta County, Texas
Cooper Review

Are you looking for the perfect gift this holiday season? Between The Sulphurs, Volume 1: A Pictorial History of Delta County, Texas is just right for anyone who enjoys local history and reminiscing about memories growing up in Delta County.

This 200 page soft-bound book is hot off the presses and can be purchased at the Delta County Public Library for just $25. It is full of beautifully restored photographs compiled by Judy Falls and Sylvia Wood. The cover is of the third Delta County Courthouse in the snow with a horse-drawn carriage waiting outside the entrance on the Square during the 1890s. This edition is a full eight inch by 11 inch copy. It has been over a year and half in research and production to create.

It documents history from the various Courthouses to the homes and families to schools, railroad, Veterans and communities.

In the introduction Judy Falls explains the inspiration for this book came while sorting some family photos.

“This book is the fulfillment of a promise that we made to our father and mother that the book would be published to preserve the history this county and bygone communities. The unexpected death of Frank [Henslee Miller] in 2013 has made the publishing of this book somewhat difficult as we had plans to edit this together,” states Judy Falls. “Therefore, Jan, Callie, Matthew, Quint, Atticus, Stacy and Sam – I dedicate this book in honor of Quentin and Catherine Miller and Frank Henslee Miller – to whom we owe so much.”

Included in the book is a unique collection of historical photos from the Miller family.

A preview copy of the book can be viewed at the Cooper Review office.
