Commerce tax office to re-open

Hunt County

The Eastern Branch Tax Office will re-open at its former location at 1114 Main St., according to a release from Tax Assessor-Collector Randy Wineinger.

The statement from Wineinger's office said that July 10 is the "target date" for the Commerce facility's first day of operations. The county had operated a branch tax office in Commerce, but closed the operation over three years ago.

The release also said the office would operate on a limited schedule - Wednesdays from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

"We plan to offer full service to our taxpayers, including motor vehicle registration and property tax collection services," the statement said.

Details of the Hunt County tax office's services are online at www.hctax.info.
