The Wolfe City city council meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Oct. 8. A public commentary period will be followed by a closed session.

The City of Wolfe City announced today in a statement that Shaun Lucas has been terminated from his employment as an officer in the Wolfe City Police Department.

Lucas, 22, faces a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of Jonathan Price, 31, of Wolfe City, on Oct. 3. Lucas fatally shot Price while on duty after Lucas responded to a report of a disturbance at the Kiwk Check gas station convenience store in Wolfe City around 8:30 p.m. that night. Lucas was arrested and charged on Oct. 5 and is jailed, with bond set at $1 million.

The Wolfe City city council is scheduled to convene for a special meeting tonight. There will be a public commentary period at the beginning of the meeting, with speakers limited to three minutes. Following the public commentary, the council will enter into a closed session, which lists two agenda items: Actions related to the firing of Lucas, along with a discussion with the City Attorney regarding the Oct. 3 shooting. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the City Hall Meeting Room, 103 W. Main St.

The city council is composed of mayor Sharion Scott along with council members Daniel Dean, Betty Teel Malone, Cory McElwrath, Jamie Moore and Deana Williams.
