Hunt County has renewed its participation in a program that helps pay for public defense attorneys in murder cases.

  • Hunt County commissioners maintained the county's enrollment in a program that helps pay for public defenders in murder cases. The agreement, with Lubbock County, and the regional public defender program, has been in place since 2012.
  • Mourners attended the funeral of Jim Latham, longtime Hunt County commissioner, on Thursday. Latham had represented Precinct 4 for 16 years, and had also been serving as county judge pro tempore since the death of John Horn in 2018. Latham died last Sunday.
  • A 33-year-old Mississippi man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with a May 2020 accident on Interstate 30 in Hopkins County that killed two children.
  • A 32-year-old Clarksville man was sentenced to 25 years in prison on child sexual abuse charges.
