  • The move means that Lions football will compete in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision. That is a mid-major level that determines a national champion by tournament.
  • The Southland Conference, headquartered in Frisco, is composed of schools in Louisiana and Texas.
  • The Lions' departure from the Lone Star Conference ends a 90-year run. East Texas State College was one of five Lone Star Conference charter members in 1931.
