Texas A&M University-Commerce has announced its opposition to the permit application of Paris-based Waste Transfer Solutions to put a waste transfer facility on State Highway 24 near university property.

In Hunt County, Texas A&M University-Commerce released a statement today announcing the school’s opposition to a proposed solid waste facility that would be built on State Highway 24. A Paris-based company, Transfer Station Solutions, LLC, has submitted an application with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for what’s described on the application as “municipal solid waste processing.” The address of the property in question is 3491 State Highway 24. That’s on the east side of the highway, across from the university’s veterinary instruction center and near other university properties. This afternoon, A&M-Commerce president Dr. Mark Rudin sent an email to the university community describing the proposal and the university’s opposition to the permit. Transfer Station Solutions has contracted with a DFW-area engineering firm, SCS Engineers of Bedford, to help with its application for the permit.
