Commerce – Mike Roberts, the new Superintendent of Commerce Schools, said he is looking forward to being back in the area and with CISD.
ROBERTS: I'm really excited about the opportunity to come back and lead the Commerce Independent School District. It is a school district with a proud history.
Roberts said he hopes to be on the job in about six weeks.
ROBERTS: I am going to try to be there the second week in July. That is what I am striving for. I am working with my current (school) board to see if we can't make that happen.
Roberts was chosen as the lone finalists for the Superintendent position earlier this week. The district has to wait until the 19th to officially finalize a contract.
