commerce – The Major League Baseball playoffs are in full swing

Carlos Zambrano was reached for seven runs over six and a-third innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers clobbered the Chicago Cubs 10-3 to take a 2-0 lead in the series. The Dodgers can close out a three-game sweep at home Saturday.

The Philadelphia Phillies are on the verge of a sweep following a 5-2 win over the Brewers. Shane Victorino had a grand slam that snapped a one-all tie in the second inning. The Brewers will try to stay alive when they host the Phils Saturday.

Tampa Bay earned a victory in its first-ever postseason game, and a rookie carried the Rays to a 6-4 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Evan Longoria homered in his first two at-bats, including a solo blast that snapped a 3-3 tie in the third inning. Longoria also singled home an insurance run in the fifth inning.
The Rays also host Game 2 today.

The Red Sox and Angels had a day off following the 4-1 victory by visiting Boston in Wednesday's opener of their ALDS. They'll resume this evening in Anaheim.

In the Big 12 this weekend .

Oklahoma, now No. 1 more than any team in AP poll history, tries to keep an unblemished record against Baylor. The Sooners have won the past nine meetings by an average of 30 points. OU could set up a top 5 matchup next week against Texas at Cotton Bowl, that gets even bigger if No. 5 Texas handles a win over Colorado Saturday. Long horns Coach Mack Brown said the Big 12 is a tough one this year.

Texas Tech is at their highest ranking in 35 years at No. 7, and hope to stay undefeated as they face Kansas State.

No. 21 Oklahoma State is looking for win 5 on the season over the 2-2 Aggies. A&M has beaten Oklahoma State each of the last four years, but the Cowboys are 25 point favorites in tomorrows contest.

No. 4 Missouri is at Nebraska and Kansas is at Iowa State.

The A&M-Commerce Lions are on the road to face Northeastern State

In high school football

Dallas Lincoln is forfeiting its first four football games after finding out it used a player whose UIL eligibility ended last season.
The Dallas Independent School District said yesterday that coaches at the school did not know the player's eligibility had ended.
The Tigers will now have an 0-4 record. They were previously undefeated.

Some area games of interest this week:
Greenville at No. 3 Highland Park.
JJ Pearce at Royse City
Caddo Mills at Cooper
No. 9 Quinlan Boles at James Bowie
Rockwall at Rockwall-Heath
North Lamar hosts Jefferson for Homecoming

And a huge matchup in Sulphur Springs as the No. 7 Wildcats host No. 6 Longview.

Paris and Commerce have the week off.

And finally, the Dallas Cowboys host the Cincinatti Bengals Sunday at Texas Stadium. Bengal quarterback Carson Palmer sat out last week with a sore elbow and watched his team fall to Cleveland, and the Cowboys are coming off an emotional loss to the Redskins last week.
The Bengals are 0-4, but Cowboys tight end Jason Witten says they're better than their schedule:

Kick of is 3:15 Sunday.
