Commerce – The City of Commerce website is in the midst of a makeover.

Visitors to www.commerce-tx.com will soon be able to view agendas and minutes from city council meetings, plus access services such as an online water bill payment system.

"We hope to possibly in the future be able to broadcast or have links to past council meetings so people can check out the video on that," said Commerce Mayor Quay Throgmorton.

He says the new site may also provide for more collaboration with Texas A&M University-Commerce.

In February, the City entered into a contract with Joe Shipman in the amount of $5,100. Shipman, of Luminous Productions, also serves as multimedia development coordinator at A&M-Commerce.

The agreement also includes two hours of site maintenance each month from Shipman, who has previously created/renovated websites for the Commerce Economic Development Corporation (http://www.commercetxedc.org/) and Commerce Chamber of Commerce (http://www.commerce-chamber.com/).

Mayor Throgmorton says they hope to have a beta version of the new site up shortly.
