Sting operation finds two businesses in violation

By Scott Harvey

Greenville – A recent minor tobacco sting operation conducted in Greenville found two out of 36 stores in violation.

Officers with Greenville Police and Commerce ISD Police conducted the sting on Thursday.

Wal-Mart along Interstate 30 and Xpressway along Joe Ramsey Blvd are reported to have sold tobacco products to an underage operative.

Earlier this year four stores sold to a minor attempting to buy tobacco.

Selling tobacco to a minor is a Class C Misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of up to $500 plus court costs.
