Commerce – The Commerce City Council plans to honor two of the individuals who took action during a fatal shooting at the Commerce Wal-Mart earlier this year.
Commerce Police Department Lieutenant Terry Miller and Patrol Office James Hildebrand were recently honored by the Sons of the American Revolution.
The two are scheduled to be presented with Heroism Awards as part of Tuesday's regular session, beginning at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
The March 7 incident resulted in the shooting death of Artenio Rodriguez. The 29-year-old Rodriguez had arrived at the store following a chase which began in Greenville after he reportedly shot several rounds into the air.
Earlier this year, Delta County Sheriff's Deputy Paul Robertson was given a key to the City of Cooper for his efforts during the incident. Robertson, who was off-duty at the time, was shot once in his attempt to subdue the gunman.
