Quitman – Wood County Commissioner's recently approved petitions for the cities of Alba, Mineola and Hawkins, each of which are seeking to legalize the sale of beer and wine for off premise consumption only.
An election was also ordered to legalize the sale of mixed beverages in restaurants for Mineola and Hawkins.
Petitions submitted to the court exceeded the number of signatures from qualified voters required.
The election is set for May 14.
